Artico Fresh meals are cooked using the latest retort technology. Retort is a processing method that uses heat and pressure to sterilize food. It is one of the most commonly used methods of thermal food processing and is popular with food producers across the world. This is the same technology that is used in NASA for astronaut food. We do not use any preservatives, chemicals or fillers in our food to extend the shelf life.

Artico Fresh uses only muscle and organ meats held to higher quality standards and have never been pre-processed as it is more nutrient-dense and easier for our pets to digest. We also choose to never use any “chicken meal” or “meat meals.” Meat meals can include varying types and qualities of meat and waste products, that are highly processed, and can be carcinogenic. There is no need for refrigeration. Our Meals are shelf stable due to the retort processing. Any opened packets / leftovers need to be refrigerated.

They will take comfort in the fact that we work alongside top veterinary nutritionists, and while many vets fight over different food trends, just about every vet agrees that fresh, nutritionally-balanced food is great for dogs. Our recipes are formulated to fully replace a standard diet. You should also check with your vet to determine if your dog is allergic to cetain foods. (Beef, Poultry, Lamb, Dairy, Eggs, Etc)

When switching from another brand of pet food to Artico Fresh, we recommend doing so gradually over a period of 7-10 days by slowing reducing old food, and increasing the amount of Artico Food for smooth transition!

Treat our refrigerated food as if you would freshly prepare foods at home. We recommend that you do not leave refrigerated food in the bowl for longer than 2-3 hours. Return any unused food to the fridge when you’re finished serving.

We recommend serving our food fresh from the packet for the best results, but you can choose to freeze any unused portions for later use. Shelf life after freezing food will be 12 months in the freezer! Be aware that you may see a slight change in color and texture when thawed, but this won’t change the nutritional value or taste of our meals. Artico food comes fresh in non refrigerated packs.

Artico Fresh refrigerated food is high in animal protein, so you can expect them to have the same moisture content as fresh, human-grade meats. 70-75% moisture is the natural state of fresh meat. Chicken breast meat contains 74.6% moisture.

For pets that have pancreatic problems or compromised renal function (i.e. kidney), high protein diets made from meat and fish should be avoided. If your pet suffers from these conditions, consult your veterinarian to determine if Artico Fresh is appropriate.
